As we mentioned at the beginning, location of Trogir Riviera is absolutely fantastic. You can get anywhere in Croatia in a matter of hours. The way you want to do the traveling is completely up to you.
Car, train, boat or plane. Croatia is filled with amazing locations from south to the north. National parks, UNESCO sites, more than thousand islands, rivers, mountains, beaches. If you don’t feel like organizing your day but want to go somewhere, there are travel agencies that will do it for you. Almost everything is possible. Čiovo island is a great place for all the swimming, snorkeling and beach time, but it is also fantastic for walking and bike riding, especially village Žedno, where there are marked walking and cycling routes. A big plus for squeezing in some movement around Žedno is the sunset. It is out of this world.
Don’t have to go far
However, bear in mind, that you have amazing places as well just under 30 minutes away from Trogir, depending on what are you up for. Let us lead you through so you can think about it. Drvenik islands –two islands, Drvenik Veli and Mali, offer you an amazing and still untouched nature and clean open sea. Both of the islands are reachable for daily visits with a ferry boat that leaves from Trogir. Both islands are home to just a few hundred people all year round and therefore, it is reasonable that they have their own tempo. Recommendation worth every penny: bring bottles of water with you, hats, sunblock and some sandwiches. You never know what the local shop will have or will not have to offer. Drvenik Veli is the most known for the famous Blue lagoon. If you go by ferry to the island, be prepared to walk cca 1 hour to reach the Blue lagoon because it is on the other side of the island and there is no transport, there is barely cars on the island to be fair. But once you get there, there is an amazing restaurant for you to enjoy on one side and a great lounge bar on the other. Worth the visit. However, there are options of renting the boat from mainland or hopping on an excursion boat that will save you hours of walking up and down the hill. Drvenik Mali is much smaller and is famous for its amazing sandy beach called Vela Rina. It is situated just about 10 minutes away from the port. Both islands should definitely be visited during your stay in Trogir area.
Okrug –situated on Čiovo island, this used to be a fishermen village up to few decades ago when they started investing in infrastructure and tourism. Now, it is favorite place for vacation for thousands and thousands of people all year round. Kilometers of gravel beaches with bars and restaurants or wild and somewhere still untouched cliff beaches, the choice is yours.
Kaštela –seven cities combined in one(good luck remembering names and their order though). Once fields that fed Trogir and Split noble families, today an exciting vacation destination. There are a few excellent wineries to try the zinfandel that originates from here. And did you know that we suspect that Shakespeare got the idea for Romeo and Juliet from the true story of unfortunate lovers from Kaštel Lukšić? Yeah, worth a visit.
Solin –or what used to be ancient city of Salona, the capital of this region that used to be a Roman province and today it is the biggest archaeological park in Croatia. And when you’re done with sightseeing the ruins, grab a drink and cool down on the banks of river Jadro.
Slatine –Village situated on the north-east side of the island Čiovo. It has some amazing gravel beaches with a few bars to enjoy your coffee or a drink. This is one of the rare places on the island where you can still find a beach without any people. The most amazing part of Slatine is a sanctuary called Gospa od Prizidnice. It was built on steep cliffs with spectacular view on islands Šolta and Brač. Locals come here for a swim, but do be warned a way down to the cliffs of the “beach” are very challenging and not the safest ones.
Marina –a village located in the bay that carries the same name. As it is a municipality there are several villages on the coastline that belong to it like Vinišće or Poljica. Kilometers of gravel and cliff beaches, bars, restaurants and some great ones that are situated in Marina’s hinterland. Olive oil from this area is also worth mentioning and trying.
Split –as the capital of our region, Split is naturally the biggest city here and it is only 25 minutes driving away from Trogir. Rich history, interesting stories, fabulous selection of bars and restaurants, great nightlife and shopping. When you want a day in the city, head to Split!
