It’s all about the masters
You can’t walk through this city without being in awe of its beauty; from the bell tower to the fortress, from one city gates to the other ones, you can walk through history and see what some of the most famous architects, sculptors and artists have left to inspire people within the city walls who are leaving their mark in Trogir today.
Did you know that we have a fashion designer who has made suits for Placido Domingo and Sebastian Vettel? Inspired by traditional garment from 19th century Trogir, with a modern touch and hand sewn silver antique buttons, each suit leaves his workshop as an original, and each person leaves his shop wanting to come back and listen to his life story and see his passion, unique style, unique man.
Not too far from his workshop is a small jewellery store that specializes in accessories made with coral and has more than 100 years of experience in tradition custom made jewellery. Five generations later and they are still creating, imprinting into the town.
Check out this small workshop, truly a small museum, a tiny corner in front of the cathedral where anything from a hole in your shoe to the scraped leather sole can be fixed with tools older than the shoemaker himself. You can get yourself a good quality leather belt here, made in this shop. You couldn’t tell from looking outside that inside is a master of his craft passed down by generations.
Remember what we said about being in a town that inspires you? Here, new masters are born! Not just the ones who are local sons and daughters, but ones who follow their creativeness to this area and stay and create. Stroll around and you can find creations of local masters of jewellery making or pottery, you will encounter painters whose brush strokes will mesmerize you, you will meet a girl in front of her shop that knits most colorful things…
You can’t live in this town and not meet someone incredible enough that will leave a mark on you.
You can’t pass through this town and expect that the beating pulse of the walls and streets won’t mark you, it is just not possible!
