Enjoying life is all about balance. You need something to sweeten up your day and we highly recommend that while in Trogir, at least once, you eat a rafioli. Origin of this half-moon shaped dessert is still unknown, but there are a few legends about it and depending on who you ask, you will get a different story so we will not be telling any legends.
We guarantee that you will devour every crumb of this cake. Shortbread cookie dough filled with grounded almonds, sounds like a simple thing, but oh no, they are not.
Almost every family has their own secret recipe that is handed down from generation to generation and they are all excellent. There are a few gatherings in the city when the locals are invited to make rafioli and we get to eat them and it is an amazing day. However, take it from experience, when asked which ones are the best, do not answer, it’s a trap. They will use it against each other and start bickering, and they are actually all scrumptious. Yes, older women here are very serious when it comes to rafioli. And, although there are varieties of this dessert in many Dalmatian cities, there is only one that is the best one and we do not say this because we are from around here. Many, many people come to the same conclusion year after year on most of competitions around Dalmatia.
